Are old CM/CDM series cylinders (the type with a black rod cover and head cover) interchangeable with the new product?

The old CM series (the type with a black rod cover and head cover and aluminum tubes) was discontinued in February 2005. It was replaced with the CM2-Z series. Production of the CM series seal kit has also been terminated. The mounting dimensions of the old CM series and the CM2-Z series are interchangeable, except for some models which can be found here.
